http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=597299 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=597299#c0 Summary: vt6655 driver gives oops and stops boot Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Milestone 5 Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: osl2008@googlemail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=354972) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=354972) Console log collected using console=ttyS0,115200n8 boot parameter & second machine via serial port User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-GB; rv:1.9.1.8) Gecko/20100204 SUSE/3.5.8-0.1.1 Firefox/3.5.8 Testing on Panel PC Afolux AFL-08A which uses a 500MHz AMD Geode LX-800 processor (with 512M RAM though), VIA Solomon VT6655 Wireless LAN and an AMD CS5536 support chip (I think this includes the graphics too). We have an 8G CF card as hard disk. Installation runs smoothly but machine fails on boot with an oops loading vt6655 - locked with the splash screen unless splash has been disabled. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install on Afolux AFL-08A Panel PC 2. Crashes on first boot 3. 4G and even with a very minimal installation (XFCE, X. compiler tools and kernel sources) I run out of space.
I suppose I could set up an NFS share and use that, though it would go from really slow to an absolute crawl. Is compilation on a beefier host (I have plenty of Linux and MS machines available, including one with 11.3-MS5) viable, if so please suggest how!
