[Bug 771937] New: Acer machine with Broadcom wifi crashes when wireless is re-enabled
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=771937 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=771937#c0 Summary: Acer machine with Broadcom wifi crashes when wireless is re-enabled Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: RC 1 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jfunk@funktronics.ca QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/22.0.1190.0 Safari/537.1 SUSE/22.0.1190.0 This is an Acer TravelMate 8372 with a Broadcom BCM43225 wlan adapter (0x14e4 0x4357). If wireless is disabled for any reason, such as sleep, disabled via NetworkManager, or disabled via RF kill button, the system will hang immediately when re-enabled. I set up netconsole, since there is no native serial port and the last messages are not saved to disk. Unfortunately, there is no Oops. Just this: Jul 17 13:23:57 10.7.41.188 [58930.522728] b43-phy0: Radio hardware status changed to DISABLED Jul 17 13:24:12 10.7.41.188 [58945.523243] b43-phy0: Radio hardware status changed to ENABLED Jul 17 13:24:13 10.7.41.188 [58946.136839] b43-phy0 ERROR: RF sequence status timeout The first message occurs when disabled, and the other 2 occur as the system hangs. I don't see any debugging parameters for the brcmsmac module, and since the machine locks up totally, sysrq keys do not work so I can't provide any useful information at this stage. Is there something else I can do to help debug this? Reproducible: Always -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

First I had problems to compile the driver. But with the patches from this site http://www.mindwerks.net/2012/06/wireless-bcm4312-with-the-3-4-and-3-5-kerne... I had success. Now I load wl.ko and enable acer_wmi. There is no problem.
That's a great news! Hi Matt, Please help to review this patch and look at maybe we should merge it to upstream and SUSE kernel. Thanks -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Hi Artur, Can you help (1) Confirm the patch listed at comment#6 work to resolve the issue.
