Still it doesn't work within KDE. I guess libgnomeui just doesn't work in kwin as session manager? So if session management is same for Gnome and kwin it might be another issue and I'll try to debug. Actually I remember that I've seen erratic behaviour with that callback. Thanks for the input. ..
