[Bug 446876] New: gnome-power-manager, brightness dims while active
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=446876 Summary: gnome-power-manager, brightness dims while active Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Factory Platform: Macintosh OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: flips@linpro.no QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Beta-Customer It seems ACPI or something does not detect activity as it should. While working actively (moving mouse, typing etc.) brightness is turned down. I turn it back up and then it dims again after a little while. If I turn it all the way down and insist a little, suddenly it switches to full brightness and I cannot adjust it anymore. I have verified the same problem on SLED 11 beta 3 and 4 (and maybe beta 2) i386, and on opensuse 11.1 beta5. (That is all I have tested this on.) The hardware is MacBook Pro Intel, core duo 2,16, 32 bits. ATI graphics. (uuid=pub_42156d20-5888-4961-b923-6c70f877e075) I tried following this: http://en.opensuse.org/Bugs:GNOME#GNOME_Power_Manager And killing gnome-power-manager stops the brightness from going down, but of course I cannot turn it back up either. I started it like stated on the above mentioned web page. I turned the brightness back up, waited until it dimmed again (while I was typing this). Then I turned the brightness all the way down so it switched to full brightness (power-management seems to be swithed off.) Then I ended the command and attached the file to this bug report. Even if I now restart gnome-power-manager, I can no longer adjust brightness. (Which as I stated happens when I manually turn brightness all the way down, Fn+F1) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
