[Bug 558977] New: Strigi not reliably indexing simple text files
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=558977 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=558977#c0 Summary: Strigi not reliably indexing simple text files Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Applications AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: vnegri@asl-electronics.co.uk QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091102 Firefox/3.5.5 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) Having installed the missing dependencies as given in https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=548007 , I have been able to enable nepomuk and strigi for KDE 4.3 in OpenSUSE 11.2. Nepomuk searchs based on user-added tags appear to work. However, the full-text searching fails to work. For example, the strigi defaults index my home directory. I created a plain text file "sample.text" containing a few distinctive words (such as "walrus". Even after manually provoking strigi to update its indexes (with strigiclient) no operation that should do a full text search of the strigi index (ALt-F2, strigiclient, even "strigicmd query") produces a hit on the file. strigiclient has a menu option to show a list of the indexed files, but this produces an empty list. However the stats display in strigiclient shows that it has indexed many files in ~ and subfolders thereof. If there are any specific tests I can perform or information I can gather to help investigate, I am very happy to do so. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create plain text file in home directory containing "walrus" 2. Use strigiclient to force immediate update of index and wait for strigi to return to idle state 3. Search for "walrus" with strigiclient Actual Results: No hits Expected Results: Should obviously return the previously created text file. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
