[Bug 333118] New: mkinitrd does no longer work after kernel update from 2.6 .22.5-32 to 2.6.22.9-0.4
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=333118 Summary: mkinitrd does no longer work after kernel update from 2.6.22.5-32 to 2.6.22.9-0.4 Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Blocker Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: Reiner.Proels@gmail.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: Customer Suse updater has tried to update the kernel, this failed because mkinitrd can not build a initial ramdisk. Error: Kernel image: /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.22.5-31-default Initrd image: /boot/initrd-2.6.22.5-31-default Root device: /dev/sdc2 (mounted on / as reiserfs) Resume device: /dev/sdb2 Device sdb not found in sysfs Script /lib/mkinitrd/setup/72-block.sh failed! by the way: /dev/sdb2 does no longer exist. It is a garbage from the setup which tried to modify fstab due to switch to libata. The next time you should display a editor so we can adjust it manually! I have also edited menu.lst to remove the invalid resume entry! Is there a possibility to get a new initrd without the broken script? Ok, I can do it manually, if I will find the time (long time ago I have done it).
