Various menus in Emacs are empty when they should not be. For example, in Calendar mode (M-x calendar RET) the Goto, Holiday, Diary, and Sun/Moon menus are empty. In Dired mode (C-x C-f ~ RET) the Operator, Mark, Regexp, Immediate, and Subdir menus are empty. 2. Occasionally when Emacs' window comes up, it has no mini-buffer. This only happens once in a blue moon. I only recall seeing it for root. 3. Shutdown blocks on Emacs, i.e., I have to specially ask it to end Emacs before it will shutdown. (That's with no changed buffers.)
