[Bug 211521] New: Discord relationship between Online update tool and yast installation source
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=211521 Summary: Discord relationship between Online update tool and yast installation source Product: SUSE Linux 10.1 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: SuSE Linux 10.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Update Problems AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: alpha096@tpg.com.au QAContact: jsrain@novell.com There appears a discord relationship with the absence of an online update source within the software update tool. This is offcource a dilemma where indeed the update source IS local of an NFS source. For example. The following screen shot shows NO online update source, yet a refresh command should report "No online update source" The fact that there is the presence on a Local catalogue available means the online update tool is satisfied to proceed without the presence of an online update source. The could lead to the user being unaware, if there is no online update source catalogue, that there indeed are updates available. Other parameters in the configuration preferences point to problems already indicated in respect to time-outs. As the size of the catalogue grows dramatically with the number of updates now issued ( my count is now 312 since installation) these parameters, whilst necessary need review. Redundancy/retry etc is a component of comms NOT an application. I feel the value of the current online update tool value should be assessed before the release of 10.2. For multiple installations the procedure for downloading an update CD and/or making is available VIA NFS update should be more clearly published. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
