Tried with NetworkManager and using ifup. The symptom is that the led on the network port is red/orange istead of green - ifconfig shows that the nic has the expected address - /etc/resolve.conf has the expected settings Routing appears to be correct: Kernel IP routing table Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface default 192.168.1.1 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 eth0 192.168.1.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 eth0 04:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. DHCP from server or Static? What about changing to other address (like 10.0.0.x, this also need change the Gateway.)? And could you ping your machine from your gateway or other machine? Very weird. BTW, do you have other system in your machine? If so, could you use the networkcard in it? The IP is static.
