https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=230961 ms@novell.com changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- AssignedTo|ms@novell.com |sndirsch@novell.com Status|REOPENED |NEW ------- Comment #12 from ms@novell.com 2007-03-26 08:01 MST ------- the problem is the following. sax2 adds a bunch of valid modelines but nv denies to use them for whatever reason. sax2 is asking the X-Server for the current active modeline and got: 1280 1344 1504 1728 1024 1025 1028 1072 based on that timing the changes were reported to 1280 1360 1520 1728 1024 1025 1028 1072 but the xorg.conf doesn't provide the modeline the nv driver has choosen from the internal mode pool. According to this sax cannot find an anchor to exchange an old modeline with a new one and so your changes were not included I think nv and nvidia doesn't care for modelines included into the xorg.conf. Because of this the system of changing it doesn't work -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Then I think we should no longer generate any modelines for the nv driver - which we no longer do for the nvidia driver for a long time - at all. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=230961 ------- Comment #14 from mhopf@novell.com 2007-03-27 07:54 MST ------- Both nvidia and nv *do* care about custom specified modelines - but only if they do not conflict with the specs from EDID. Marcus, AFAIR your comment, sax2 relies on the modeline asked from the server to be included in the custom modeline pool of the driver. This is no longer the case, as modeline handling is in the middle of a complete overhaul. Mode selection will be even more blackboxed after that than it is now. What does sax2 do if there are no custom modelines at all, like for the nvidia driver? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

I made it one more time with the YAST – restarted computer – it shows no effect! The hardware has not been changed and during the install of version 10.1 I didn’t have any problems with the replacing! Are there “new” drivers in 10.2 ?
