[Bug 888802] New: The "/dev" tree is being messed up early in the installer.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=888802 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=888802#c0 Summary: The "/dev" tree is being messed up early in the installer. Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Factory Version: 201407* Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 13.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: yast2-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: nrickert@ameritech.net QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:30.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/30.0 I attempted an install, with openSUSE-Factory-DVD-x86_64-Snapshot20140721-Media.iso written to a USB. It failed on setting up the repo for the install. Investigating this, I ran: ls -ltra /dev/disk/by-id early in the install, then again after the failure. I'll attach a "typescript" containing both outputs. It looks as if all entries in "/dev/disk/by-id", except the one for the DVD, were deleted, and then a few of them added back. To do the "ls" command, I used CTRL-ALT-F2, to get to a console session. There, I mounted a local file system, and ran the "script" command, with the "typescript" file on that local file system. My first "ls" was taken while the initial screen (with the software license) was showing in the GUI. My second "ls" was taken after the failure message on setting up the repo. Most of the "/dev/disk/by-id" entries are missing in the second command. And of those still there, the time stamp is changed on all but the entry for "sr0". My guess -- this is probably happening during the scan for existing linux systems. Please retry with latest systemd+udev from ...
I cannot update the DVD. So I instead tried factory snapshot 20140728. And that seems to be fine. An install went smoothly. I did not run into the same problem. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
