Although it's xorg.conf responsibility. * Fr Dez 19 2008 sndirsch@suse.de - xf86-video-ati-es1000.diff * version10: Fix potential bug, if VGA is not connected DVI maybe black; fix memory leak. * Do Dez 18 2008 sndirsch@suse.de - xf86-video-ati-es1000.diff * version8: includes new patch for black screen; root cause is that for some monitors, xserver can't pick a CRTC for VGA output, because of hw's limitation, now just cheat xserver. Tested on SLES11 with IBM machine, DELL machine, and new Xserver. So one of these patches likely broke it. I uses vesa/fbdev instead of radeon driver. Otherwise add 3 as option to the boot prompt to boot into linux console (runlevel 3). log in as root, then run rpm -e xorg-x11-driver-video Disable the update repo in YaST (run yast). But obviously you didn't need to downgrade this driver package, so it's no longer a regression of the radeon driver update. Don't know which driver you used before, but we probably can't figure this out any longer.
