[Bug 979555] New: gnome-shell 3.16 100% cpu
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=979555 Bug ID: 979555 Summary: gnome-shell 3.16 100% cpu Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.1 Hardware: Other OS: openSUSE 42.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME Assignee: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: ru.vinzent@gmail.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: Beta-Customer Blocker: --- Gnome-shell randomly starts consuming 100% CPU and it won't stop until being restarted. There is nothing unusual in journalctl when this happens. This happens with Intel HD3k video, standard open source drivers. I haven't figured out what exactly is causing this bug, and it happens rarely, but I noticed it's often triggered by interactions with zypper (yeah, I've no idea how the heck it might be connected). This bug is not the same as [1], since the system does not freeze and remains responsive; the only symptom is gnome-shell consuming 100% of one CPU's core. *I think* this bug is not the same as [2], since turning off the said extension after gnome-shell starts consuming CPU doesn't help; I might be wrong though, and I'll try to reproduce the bug without extensions. I've observed this behaviour on Fedora 22 as well.
