[Bug 277303] New: Network installation not possible with Marvell PCI-E Gigabit LAN controller
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=277303
Summary: Network installation not possible with Marvell PCI-E
Gigabit LAN controller
Product: openSUSE 10.3
Version: Alpha 4
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3
Status: NEW
Severity: Critical
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Installation
AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com
ReportedBy: sabelka@iue.tuwien.ac.at
QAContact: jsrain@novell.com
I tried to install the opensuse factory. Downloaded boot.iso from
http://ftp.opensuse.org/pub/opensuse/distribution/SL-OSS-factory/inst-source...
(version from 1007-05-22) and bunrned it to CD and booted.
I selected network installation via http. Network installation was not
possible, because my network controller was not detected. Then, I loaded the
"sky2" kernel module manually, but still no network device was available.

That's with a vanilla kernel. Can you try an openSUSE kernel from http://software.opensuse.org/download/Kernel:/HEAD/openSUSE_Factory/i586/ instead? I don't expect that there will be any difference, but I'd rather not close this as fixed if there's a problem with the openSUSE kernel. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
