[Bug 590248] New: radeon [RV350 Mobility Radeon 9600 M10] X server crash after suspend with KMS enabled
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=590248 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=590248#c0 Summary: radeon [RV350 Mobility Radeon 9600 M10] X server crash after suspend with KMS enabled Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Factory Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: bnc-team-xorg-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: seife@novell.slipkontur.de QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: Community User Blocker: --- Running recent FACTORY, KMS is now enabled by default. After a suspend to RAM on my compaq nc6000 with 01:00.0 0300: 1002:4e50 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV350 [Mobility Radeon 9600 M10] when switching back to X, the display stays blank (I did see text console for a short moment before), I get some light "melting LCD" effect and after ~5 seconds, the X server crashes and gets me back to KDM login screen. The famous last words in Xorg.log.old are "Backtrace:" (but there is no backtrace) Things that I already tried: * boot with vga=0, so that radeon does not have to switch from vesafb to radeondrmfb * enable and disable KDE 3D effects - does not help: when enabled, the system crashes or locks up hard even without suspend ;) * try to use "s2ram -f" instead of the built in whitelist options "s2ram -f -a3" for my machine, to make sure that the kernel is doing all the initialization and the BIOS does not interfere (-a3 means "call BIOS POST and SET_MODE from within the kernel) All that does not help. The machine suspends and resumes fine without X and with KMS on, even with plain "s2ram -f", but the X server dies, making suspend not really useful. BTW: the new session after it crashed works without glitches, so there is no permanent damage, but all open apps are lost :-( Anything else I can test? Some magic buildservice repo with the most bleeding edge xorg drivers? ;-) -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
