Disks and partitions are scanned later in installation process, so we need a y2log that is copied after the message about parted being unable to read the partition table has been shown by YaST2. In additiona the output of "parted /dev/sda print" and the content of /proc/partitions would be helpful. Parted reports some partitions on sda but /proc/partitions not.
