"Especially for non-standard modes like 1024x600 Modelines are still required in most cases."
well, in my case they ain't (neither on desktop nor on aspire one)
i have news: xorg uses correct resolution regardless of xorg.xonf modelines and 915resolution, _BUT_ only if I start it manually from console via startx. but if i start this way
What does "this way" mean?
i hit this famous bug of org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.PermissionDeniedByPolicy trying to access usb flash drive. so guess i will open another request
