[Bug 331121] New: Autosetup for Sax2 turns off monitor on Ferrari 4000 laptop
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=331121 Summary: Autosetup for Sax2 turns off monitor on Ferrari 4000 laptop Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: SaX2 AssignedTo: ms@novell.com ReportedBy: coomac@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- After going through the installation process, the laptop rebooted as expected. Grub loaded fine, so did the splash screen/framebuffer while the laptop booted. When it came time to load X, my monitor went black. The monitor was off, but I suspect X loaded since the keyboard was working. I had to boot into failsafe and run sax2 manually. I saved the recommendations and the monitor worked in init 5 after I rebooted. I tried to enable compiz using the suse xgl setup tool. Once again, I lost my monitor after I rebooted and had to run sax2 manually to get it back. I don't understand why there is such a discrepancy between what the system auto configures and what sax detects when I run it manually. Anyway, here are the relevant laptop specs: Acer Ferrari 4006 ATi x700 Mobility Graphics FWIW after installing ati's proprietary driver, I had no problems when I ran sax2 -r -m 0=fglrx. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
