As far as I can see, Ralink's drivers won't get an update and are out of discussion for newer kernels. You project and team is quite frankly absolute great! Regarding the loss of performance, I think it is because of this: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commitdif... So I assume we'll see this problem solved with kernel 3.5 and using the backports for openSUSE 12.2 from compat-wireless should work it's 3.4 kernel. I'll report back, as soon as I've tested this (this time -hopefully- faster...) Those are great news, that you maintain the compat-wireless versions :) A few days ago, I just tried the compat-drivers-3.8-rc5 with this Ralink chip and it works absolutely perfect now. It connects extremely fast to a TP-LINK Router using WPA2 in a network with other computers and it provides the full download speed. And moreover it keeps it on this high level. It seems that it also needs less power than the usb dongle I used as a substitude. - The compat-wireless project really rocks! As far as I remember, the problem persisted with earlier versions of the compat-drivers, so at least using version >= 3.8 will completely solve the issues.
