https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=759537 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=759537#c0 Summary: Latest xorg/xf86 updates from repository breaks X Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.4 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: bnc-team-xorg-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: gvenkat@attglobal.net QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=488472) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=488472) Xorg.0.log showing the error messages at the end User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:11.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/11.0 A few days ago, a zypper update from the repository http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/XOrg/openSUSE_11.4/ broke X and gdm would not start. I noticed that a whole bunch of xf86* installs happened, and a bunch of xorg-x11 files got changed from x86_64 to noarch. When I deleted all of Xorg/xf86 and re-installed the xorg-x11-server, xorg-x11-driver-video and xorg-x11-driver-input, it started to work. But when I updated again today, the same xf86 switch happened and it broke X. But re-installing Xorg doesn't help. I have attached Xorg.0.log Basically, the libfb module doesn't load with an error message and so the intel driver quits as well. Then Xorq quits because it cannot find any screens. The last few lines of Xorg.0.log are [ 10.743] (II) intel(0): Kernel page flipping support detected, enabling [ 10.743] (==) intel(0): DPI set to (96, 96) [ 10.743] (II) Loading sub module "fb" [ 10.743] (II) LoadModule: "fb" [ 10.744] (II) Loading /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/libfb.so [ 10.745] (EE) Failed to load /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/libfb.so: /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/libfb.so: undefined symbol: pixman_composite_trapezoids [ 10.745] (II) UnloadModule: "fb" [ 10.745] (II) Unloading fb [ 10.745] (EE) intel: Failed to load module "fb" (loader failed, 7) [ 10.745] (II) UnloadModule: "intel" [ 10.745] (EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.
