[Bug 829386] New: Memleak in kded4 with powerdevil
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=829386 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=829386#c0 Summary: Memleak in kded4 with powerdevil Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Workspace AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: ronnypeine@gmx.de QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:22.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/22.0 Hi, I experienced a memleak in kded4 with powerdevil service activated. If powerdevil is active than kded4 eats up about 60MB RAM per day as can be seen with top in the RSS memory section. If powerdevil is deactivated than memory behaviour is normal. I found the already reported bug in KDE bugzilla: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=271934 The bug is still present in current kde4 packages of openSUSE 12.3. Kind regards Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Actual Results: Memoryleak in kded4 eats about 60MB RAM per day. Expected Results: No memoryleak should be present in kded4. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I would test it if you give me the needed url.
You can find the repo here: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/sumski:/branches:/openSUSE:/...
Is marking the bug as closed ok if even upstream has no patch for it? I've talked with Martin, and seems those fixes did not fix the issue, but it is somewhere within PowerDevil. So i doubt that package from the above link will help. Won't hurt testing though ;-)
As for closing - yes, if the bug is in upstream code, and not in openSUSE packaging/integration. Resolved upstream just means it is not exclusively our, but upstream bug.
Kind regards.

Ok, makes sense. Kind regards. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I downloaded and installed the package libpolkit-qt-1-1-0.99.1-22.3.1.x86_64.rpm from the given repository reactivated the powerdevil service, ended my kde session and created a new one. I made sure that powerdevil is running in kded4 with pmap. The memleak still persists, so no change with this update.
OK, thanks for the feedback. I'm cc'ed on upstream report, so if there's gonna be a backportable fix, we'll submit it to update repo. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
