this issue would be to again disable building the netcf driver in libvirt.
I think that can be a workaround. How do I do it? You would have to build libvirt, explicitly disabling netcf. E.g. osc build --without=netcf ...
# virsh iface-dumpxml --inactive eth0 error: XML description for unknown interface startmode manual is not well formed or invalid
So netcf doesn't know about our startmode option in ifcfg files.
# virsh iface-dumpxml --inactive virbr0 error: failed to get interface 'virbr0'
And I suspect there is no /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-virbr0, so netcf barfs here as well. Hmm, come to think of it the libvirt in OBS Virtualization project should have netcf disabled, even for 11.4. Can you try the libvirt package in that project? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

unfortunately I'm not experienced with OBS, so that's not really a solution for now.

The project associated with that repo is the "staging" area for 11.4 virtualization packages. We build and test packages there before submitting to QA for "official" update releases. Currently, the libvirt there is same as available in the 11.4 update repo. I was hoping you could try the libvirt packages from http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Virtualization/openSUSE_11.4/ This project contains the latest virtualization packages. We try to enable building for several products (11.3, 11.4, 12.1, Factory) so people can use/test the bleeding edge stuff on their current installation. But this bug will affect anyone using virt-manager on 11.4. I suppose we should do a libvirt update which disables the netcf driver. Charles, do we have anything else for an 11.4 update? I doubt QA would be interested in an update for 1 bug. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

There are a few bug fixes queued up but probably not enough at this point (or severe enough) to justify a maintenance release yet. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Jim, thanks for pointing this out. After switching repos I've installed: virt-utils-1.1.7-26.1.x86_64 virt-viewer-0.4.1-36.1.x86_64 virt-manager-0.9.0-80.1.x86_64 vm-install-0.5.7-102.2.x86_64 The problem is gone.
