[Bug 350984] New: Kernel panic after SuspendToDisk-Resume cycle on Sony Vaio due to sony_laptop module
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=350984 Summary: Kernel panic after SuspendToDisk-Resume cycle on Sony Vaio due to sony_laptop module Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: danielstefanmader@web.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- SuspendToDisk and resume basically works on this Sony Vaio PCG-GR215SP laptop (PIIIm, 512MB RAM, ATI Technologies Inc Radeon Mobility M6 LY). Small failures after resume are broken sound system (which is easily remedied by rcalsasound restart), and a dead USB system (no solution found to this, so far, reloading modules does not help). Yet, this feature of a mobile computer is not usable at all on this laptop since the next real reboot will fail with a kernel panic concerning the sony_laptop modules. Various boot parameters have been checked but do not help the issue: pci=noacpi, pci=biosirq, acpi=force. ACPI is essential on this laptop for sound system and cd-rw/dvd-rom drive. Log files will follow. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

* install the new kernel-default package from http://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/kernel/kotd/SL103_BRANCH/i386/ once it is built and report if the problem vanishes? Yeah, that would be great. You might want to set this bug to "verified" then.
And do I understand correctly, that a patched kernel is on its way with the next scheduled kernel update for the 2.6.22 series, too? yes.
