[Bug 977567] New: Firefox 46 doesn't open links in another window/tab
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=977567 Bug ID: 977567 Summary: Firefox 46 doesn't open links in another window/tab Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: x86-64 OS: openSUSE 42.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Firefox Assignee: bnc-team-mozilla@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: rainer.klier@gmx.at QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- after updating firefox to version 46 from http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/mozilla/openSUSE_Tumbleweed opening a link in a new window or in a new tab does not work any more. if you right-click on a link, the pop-up-menu opens (but with many many more entries compared to firefox 45, which is also very strange), and when selecting "open link in new tab" or "open link in new window" nothing happens. on firefox 45 this works properly. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

The context menu would be bug 977559. I cannot reproduce atm though.
yes, exactly the same.
Same here. The links in the context menu work fine for me. Same questions as in the other bug: What is your desktop and language?

Therefore I also think like in the other bug that this is caused by the KDE integration. Not sure how and why this happens but in case you have the

i will check if i have everything installed to run another destop environment. but i think i don't have installed packages for any other destop environment...
nice. Otherwise it takes me a few days to test on KDE.
ok, in worst case, i have to live with firefox 45 until then. not that big problem. another thing is, that it seems to me that the Firefox 46 build does not support/use GTK3. i tried to turn on Skia and proper GPU acceleration like described here: https://www.phoronix.com/forums/forum/phoronix/latest-phoronix-articles/8676... but i can't find the setting "gfx.canvas.azure.accelerated". -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

openSUSE packages carry a patch to improve KDE integration and this patch needs to be updated with every Firefox release which is done but apparently there is a new logical issue. I'll see if I can find the to be blamed patch.
i solved it! :-D i found the responsible package! it is "mozilla-kde4-integration". i removed it, and now firefox 46 behaves like firefox 45. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Thanks for the feedback. This does not solve the issue but it gives you a workaround and myself one more pointer where the issue could be located because the KDE integration is two way split one based on availability of the integration package and the other just based on the desktop session.
ok, but i wonder why a package called "mozilla-kde4-integration" interferes with a KDE plasma 5 setup... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
