[Bug 545905] New: System Reboots when bnx2 driver is accessed in Xen Kernel with BCM 5716 Ethernet after Xen patch 883 is applied
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=545905 Summary: System Reboots when bnx2 driver is accessed in Xen Kernel with BCM 5716 Ethernet after Xen patch 883 is applied Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Xen AssignedTo: jdouglas@novell.com ReportedBy: jjacobs@doba.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10_6_1; en-us) AppleWebKit/531.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.3 Safari/531.9 On new Dell R410 servers, which include the Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM 5716 ethernet cards, stock Suse 11.1 Xen Dom0 works fine. However, after running updates, (Specifically the" xen SVVP Test 273..." update which patches xen to 3.3.1_18546_16-0.1.1, I can no longer boot into the Xen kernel. When it enables networking, the server reboots. The normal kernel works fine. Further research showed that if I disable networking on boot, it will fully boot into the Xen kernel. However, if I then either run Yast and go to networking, or if I even do a simple ifconfig eth0 up, the system will immediately reboot. In Yast, it reboots when it is gathering "driver information." If I don't run the xen 883 update to 3.3.1_18546_16-0.1.1, but rather remain on the shipping version (3.3.1_18494_03-1.8) the dom0 loads just fine. I have 10 brand new Dell R410s and have tested this on at least 3 of them with the same results. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Install Stock minimal Text install OpenSuse 11.1 with Xen server packages on Dell R410 server. 2.Run Online Update (specifically the xen | SVVP Test 273 "System - Sleep..." Version 883 update) 3.Reboot into Xen kernel Actual Results: Server reboots when Ethernet drivers are accessed. Expected Results: Finished booting and ran as a Xen Dom0. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
