[Bug 741452] New: ARP garbage collection issues in 3.1
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=741452 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=741452#c0 Summary: ARP garbage collection issues in 3.1 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: bruno@ioda-net.ch QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:9.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/9.0.1 I use a computer as server which is connected behing our dsl router (who has ip passthrough activated) so the server get directly the internet traffic on that interface (eth1) with our static public address. This has worked for years (11.1 -> 11.4) and also work under 12.1 if I reboot on the last 11.4 kernel (vmlinuz-2.6.37.6-0.9). Now the arp table (ip neigh) just grow and fill the table until the kernel block all network communication due to ip neigh overflow Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install 12.1 or use kernel 3.1+ 2. Connect to intensive mac network 3. see ip neigh overflow Actual Results: ip neigh overflow, changing default values only help to get more time to react. network has to be shutdown and restart. We as a temporary fix, use a script to monitor the value of ip neigh show dev eth1 | wc -l and restart the network when it approach the new limits we give. Expected Results: Working situation, or patch applied More informations in http://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/123208/ Once upon a time, we try the 3.2-rc6 kernel, but didn't find that it fix it so probably affected too. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
