What happens if you run speaker-test with -Dplughw ?
speaker-test -Dplughw
speaker-test 1.0.18rc1 Playback device is plughw Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 1 channels Using 16 octaves of pink noise Playback open error: -16,Device or resource busy Playback open error: -16,Device or resource busy Playback open error: -16,Device or resource busy
Also, could you run alsa-info.sh script with --no-upload option, and attach the generated file to here? The script is found in /usr/share/doc/packages/alsa directory (or /usr/sbin in the recent version of alsa.rpm).

Oh sorry, it should be "-c8" instead of "-c7".
# speaker-test -Dplughw -c8 -twav speaker-test 1.0.18rc1 Playback device is plughw Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 8 channels WAV file(s) Rate set to 48000Hz (requested 48000Hz) Buffer size range from 4 to 8192 Period size range from 2 to 4096 Using max buffer size 8192 Periods = 4 was set period_size = 2048 was set buffer_size = 8192 0 - Front Left -- correct 4 - Center 1 - Front Right -- correct 7 - Side Right 3 - Rear Right -- LFE 2 - Rear Left 6 - Side Left 5 - LFE -- no sound
But, still it's puzzling. Are rear-left and center channels correctly played, but only rear-right comes from subwoofer?
I have a 2.1 system: front left and front right + separete active subwoofer. So, I can't test other channels. Sound is play only in front channel.
Also, try with "-c4" and "-c6". It's good to know all possible mappings.

The problem is that your sound system is 2.1 speakers and you are trying to play with 7.1 and other configuration.
Unfortunately, there is no standard 2.1 setup. You can write your own ~/.asoundrc to mix 2.1, though.
Can you help me with it? Umm, show what I need to write to this file or example at least. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
