[Bug 680126] New: X lock-up when w-lan connection is enabled in battery mode on MSI notebook
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=680126 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=680126#c0 Summary: X lock-up when w-lan connection is enabled in battery mode on MSI notebook Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: bnc-team-xorg-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: info@cyrilbrosch.net QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=419658) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=419658) excerpt from /var/lg/messages, when the crash occured User-Agent: Opera/9.80 (X11; Linux i686; U; de) Presto/2.7.62 Version/11.01 Hi there, this bug sounds weird and it took my some time to hunt it down, but I can reproduce it all the time: When I establish a wireless connection while my MSI Megabook S310 (with kernel 2.6.37.1-1.2-default i686, radeon/R300 Gallium graphics drivers, rt61pci wlan driver, KDE SC 4.6.1) is on battery, or when I pull the power plug while a wireless connection is established, after 1-2 seconds my screen turns black. It's not a crash of Plasma (the mouse pointer stays and is even moveable, and I can still hear the notification sound of the battery plasmoid). I have to kill X and log in again, but after that my w-lan is offline. This in fact makes it impossible to work with my notebook without external power supply. It's a clear regression compared with 11.3 (kernel 2.6.34, but also KDE SC 4.6), where everything worked fine. Please tell me which additional (hardware) information to provide. I attach some logs from /var/log/messages, but I don't know wether they're relevant.
