If that's the case, we do need to use another wording - and will not enable smart by default since it has not been tested. Stanislav, please check the status. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=222145 ------- Comment #3 from fhassel@novell.com 2006-11-20 05:33 MST ------- You are right, the daemon is not started by default. Is this done on purpose or should bug #201715 be reopened? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=222145 sbrabec@novell.com changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|NEW |ASSIGNED ------- Comment #4 from sbrabec@novell.com 2006-11-21 10:43 MST ------- No. It was intended to start smartd by default in any case. Probably the logic described in bug 201715 comment 12 does not work properly. %post %if %suse_version < 1010 # With some broken drivers in older kernels, smartd can hang the system. # Don't start it by default. %{fillup_and_insserv -n smartd} %else # We have a new kernel. We can run smartd by default. if test -f usr/share/doc/packages/smartmontools/README.SATA ; then # We are updating from older version, which cannot start smartd out of the box. # Turn it on by default just now. %{fillup_and_insserv -Y -n smartd} else # We are updating from newer version. Respect possible explicit disabling. %{fillup_and_insserv -y -n smartd} fi %endif -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=222145 aj@novell.com changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|NEEDINFO |ASSIGNED Info Provider|aj@novell.com | ------- Comment #6 from aj@novell.com 2006-11-22 09:39 MST ------- We're not fixing it for 10.2. Smart was not running through the betas and not with RC1 - and will therefore not run with the final build. It's too risky to make this change now. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
