[Bug 462773] New: openSUSE 11. 0 Installation with fake RAID is not recogized by repair and new openSUSE 11 .1 installation
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=462773 Summary: openSUSE 11.0 Installation with fake RAID is not recogized by repair and new openSUSE 11.1 installation Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: h.weebers@kpnplanet.nl QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: Other The first time I became aware of this problem was during upgrade installation to openSUSE 11.1. Then a check with repair utilities of openSUSE 11.0 showed the message box with " No valid Linux Partition Found". So the problem is not new related to openSUSE 11.1. I had partitioned two identical drives into 4 raid1 partitions during 11.0 installation. - md2 contains the root partition - md3 contains /home - md4 contains /srv - md0 was destinated to /boot and /dev/sdc1 is the windows XP partition. It doesn't make sense to RAID the swap partitions. The repair check showed following: 1. swap partitions were found 2. searching for currently mounted partitions: /dev/loop0 on /mounts/imp_0000 type ro /dev/loop1 on /mounts/imp_0001 type ro /dev/loop2 on /mounts/imp_0002 type ro /dev/loop3 on /mounts/imp_0003 type ro /dev/loop1 on /usr/bin/gdb type ro 3. found partitions for file system check sda1, sda5, sda6, sda7, sdb1, sdb5, sdb6, sdb7, sdc1 4. file checking these files systems is ok. 5. check fstab entries results in No valid Partitions were found. I looked for a way to make hwinfo during repair situation available, but I had no success mounting any existing partition to safe files. I moved /boot files back to the system partition. A separate boot partition seems not to be the problem. So I guess RAID is not recognized. Can someone help me getting a work around? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
