[Bug 651899] New: broken link: no frobnicate in glibc-html
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=651899 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=651899#c0 Summary: broken link: no frobnicate in glibc-html Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Documentation AssignedTo: ke@novell.com ReportedBy: giecrilj@stegny.2a.pl QAContact: ke@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; pl-PL; rv:1.9.2.12) Gecko/20101026 SUSE/3.6.12-0.7.1 Ant.com Toolbar 2.0.1 Firefox/3.6.12 Please remove the reference to "frobnicate" from NSS documentation in glibc because the hyperlink is broken and the referenced material adds nothing to the subject. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. zypper install glibc-html 2. desktop-launch 'file:///usr/share/doc/glibc/Name-Service-Switch.html#Name-Service-Switch' 3. Tell the browser to follow to "frobnicate". Actual Results: 2. Various functions in the C Library need to be configured to work correctly in the local environment. Traditionally, this was done by using files (e.g., /etc/passwd), but other nameservices (like the Network Information Service (NIS) and the Domain Name Service (DNS)) became popular, and were hacked into the C library, usually with a fixed search order (see frobnicate). 3. Podany plik lub katalog /usr/share/doc/jargon/frobnicate.html nie istnieje. Expected Results: 3. The link is broken in the master copy [1] as well, so I really cannot tell. I guess the referenced resource should explain the search order in NSS. If the referenced resource is supposed to be the Jargon File entry for frobnicate [2], that resource adds nothing to the subject and should not be referred to. ___ [1] URL:http://www.gnu.org/software/libc/manual/html_node/Name-Service-Switch.ht...
