[Bug 337972] New: jack compiled with posix-shm
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=337972 Summary: jack compiled with posix-shm Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: tiwai@novell.com ReportedBy: edogawa@aon.at QAContact: qa@suse.de CC: appleonkel@flashgrafik.de, oc2pus@arcor.de Found By: --- This is causing weird behaviour for some but not all users it seems. I have seen several users reporting that jack would not start for them after having tried as root user. The jack error message was asking to remove the file /dev/shm/jack-0, which actually didn't exist anymore. So it was a sort of deadlock situation for them, even removing /dev/shm/jack-shm-registry did not fix it. And causing some people to search for literally weeks what might be wrong in their setups. I shortly discussed this with Paul Davis on #ardour irc channel, who said that he doesn't recommend using posix shm with jack, at least when compiling for linux. He also said POSIX shm support is likely improving over time. it won't always break things, but its still not solid. So I ask to leave out --enable-posix-shm in the call to ./configure in jack.spec. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
