On previous install I used proprietary nvidia drivers with sax generated xorg.conf. After upgrade Terminal was unreadable and X was blank. I had to remotely call sax2-vesa to fix X. Nothing obvious in the logfile either. This sounds like a driver problem. IIRC I already got a bug about 7300 LE not working with nv driver, but I could not reproduce it with my 7300 GT, which I would assume should behave at least similar. Since the bugreporter was testing with a LiveCD the investigation possibilities were rather limited so I needed to close this bugreport at one point. The only 'fix' I can imagine here is to use vesa for this graphics chip. Will your patch fix also broken terminal (screenshot) or I should open a new bug for it?
