[Bug 283013] New: Nautilus will not display smb:// shares
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=283013 Summary: Nautilus will not display smb:// shares Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: 64bit OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: Curt.Kliewer@twu.ca QAContact: qa@suse.de We have a MS Windows Server 2003 domain with over 600 machines connected to it. We installed OpenSuse 10.2 on 3 identical workstations. Up until security updates on Friday (June 8, 2007) were installed, Nautilus could open smb:// shares just fine. However, after those updates were applied, now Nautilus will generate an error message: "Sorry, couldn't display all the contents of "Windows Network: computer DNS name". On one of the machines, with a fresh install which also included system update, the same bug occured - Nautilus would hang for up to 5 minutes (these are duo core 2, 64bit CPU machines) before generating the error message. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

My neartest guess would be a samba update, but this was released on May 15. What we did release recently for 10.2 which might have vaguely to do with it: - clamav - MozillaFirefox - gnome-main-menu - hal - file -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=283013 ------- Comment #3 from Curt.Kliewer@twu.ca 2007-06-13 15:08 MST ------- Hi Marcus, You guys already fixed it. I did a fresh install this afternoon (June 13, 2007) on another Dell Optiplex 745, ran Updates during install, and the smb shares work fine. There are 4 updates now that I have loaded into the Desktop: pgp openssl pgp2 openssl-devel However, since the smb shares are working before installing these, it must have been the updates you guys pushed out either yesterday afternoon or this morning. My own Dell Opt 745, which wasn't working after the updates were installed on Friday, June 8, now installed updates this morning that resloved this issue. I confess I have no idea what the updates were that I installed this morning (please forgive my ignorance - no excuse). However, the fix is tested and true. You know, this kind of support is what makes me realize that Novell and the linux community in general is the real deal. Thank you for the fix and for the speed of the delivery. I have been wowed by this experience. If you were on campus, I would treat you guys to a cold one. Cheers. You made my day. :-) Curt Kliewer -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
