[Bug 830522] New: pppd capiplugin doesn't work, libcapi20, capifs, devd configuration
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=830522 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=830522#c0 Summary: pppd capiplugin doesn't work, libcapi20, capifs, devd configuration Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: Ralf.Friedl@online.de QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; de-AT; rv:1.8.1.24) Gecko/20100228 SeaMonkey/1.1.19 I want to use the capiplugin to establish a pppd connection over ISDN. I noticed the following problems: 1. capiplugin wants to load libcapi20.so. The package libcapi20-3 provides only libcapi20.so.3.0.4 and libcapi20.so.3, bot not libcapi20.so. This is easily fixed with a symlink. 2. The CAPI is expeced to be at /dev/capi20. Loading the module capi creates /dev/capi. This is also easy to fix. 3. capiplugin wants to use /dev/capi/0 that used to be provided by the capifs. But capifs was removed with the comment that udevd could do the same. But is doesn't. I have seen that in file /etc/udev/rules.d/45-isdn.rules lines 4 and 5 are supposed to rename /dev/capi to /dev/capi20 and to create /dev/capi/0, but it doesn't work. "udevd --debug" shows this: NAME="capi20" ignored, kernel device nodes can not be renamed; please fix it in /etc/udev/rules.d/45-isdn.rules:4 NAME="capi/%n" ignored, kernel device nodes can not be renamed; please fix it in /etc/udev/rules.d/45-isdn.rules:5 So it seems that these rules can't do what they are supposed to do. Workaround: Manually create /dev/capi20, or mv /dev/capi to /dev/capi20. Create directory /dev/capi/. Symlink /dev/capi/0 to /dev/capi0, do the same for numbers greater that 0 up to expected number of used devices. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Configure ISDN and CAPI 2. Try a pppd connection with capiplugin.so Actual Results: fails as described. Expected Results: Should work. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
