Can we do some magic like we do with other hardware dependend packages? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=269795 ------- Comment #1 from kkaempf@novell.com 2007-04-30 02:57 MST ------- The hardware information inside the packages (see http://en.opensuse.org/Software_Management/Dependencies/Hardware) is only part of the equation. We need some 'dynamic detection mechanism' (a deamon ? a hal rule ?) which matches hot-plug devices to configuration (a yast workflow ?) and software (driver, firmware, etc.). So when a device is plugged in, the system tries to set it up properly. We do this already for usb-sticks, a generic solution for hot plug (usb, firewire, pci, ...) would be nice. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=269795 dkukawka@novell.com changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|NEW |NEEDINFO Info Provider| |aj@novell.com ------- Comment #2 from dkukawka@novell.com 2007-04-30 04:02 MST ------- I don't see a way to do this because of this problematic points: * the wacom tools stuff is needed in KRandR (IIRC to rotate the screen) not sure if there is a dependency * you can't say if you need this on installation time since you can have USB wacom devices plugged in later and you don't want to install the stuff if you activate or plugin a tablet (you need network or DVD etc. ...) * normaly you have in Tablet PCs serial wacom devices and they are covered by a in-kernel driver (e.g. 8250_pnp). I have no idea how to get aliases from these devices. Btw. HAL already know if this is a tablet PC (system.formfactor.subtype = 'tabletpc'), but this is not limited to WACOM Tablet PCs. So why not do the same as on SLE10: add an extra Tablet PC pattern (with all Tablet PC relevant packages as e.g *wacom*.rpm, xvkbd, xstroke, jarnal, xournal ...) and check via HAL if the machine is a Tablet PC via HAL and activate the pattern if so. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

SLED does not have a table PC pattern - I cannot find it at least :-(
I had the pattern (TabletPC) under "Zusätzliche Software" on a SLED10SP1 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
