The 32-bit OOo needs 32-bit libraries to access the LDAP. You should make sure that you have installed: kdelibs3-32bit openldap2-client-32bit It works on my system. It is not easy to find what libraries are needed. It is possible that you would need even some more 32-bit packages. I am sorry, I do not have time to fix this bug for such an old distribution. It works for me on openSUSE-10.3. I'll close this bug as WONTFIX for now. You might try a more recent package from http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/OpenOffice.org:/STABLE/SUSE_Linux_... I suggest you to update to openSUSE-10.3 once it is final.
