https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=679148 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=679148#c0 Summary: "radeon" driver initialization fails with "ring test failed" with Kernel Mode Setting enabled Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: marcianx@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:2.0b12) Gecko/20110222 Firefox/4.0b12 SUMMARY This is on openSUSE 11.4 x86_64 with KDE 4.6.0 on a Dell XPS 630 with an ATI Radeon HD 4870. Booting a clean install with Kernel Mode Setting and no xorg.conf started with no 3D acceleration. It seems that there was a "ring test" failure when loading the radeon drivers in KMS mode.
