[Bug 469261] New: Nvidia proprietary driver missing in Factory
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=469261 Summary: Nvidia proprietary driver missing in Factory Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: sndirsch@novell.com ReportedBy: vpelcak@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- As there is need for more testers of openSUSE Factory, it is good idea to provide also nvidia proprietary drivers to give them environment testers can also use. Sure, users can manually install nvidia drivers themselves. But any kernel or X.org update will most probably break this installation. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

But any kernel or X.org update will most probably break this installation. Which is exactly the reason, why it doesn't make sense to provide it. It can't be provided within the factory tree, but via the nvidia server, so for most factory users it won't work, since it's either too old or too new.
