It has an nvidia GeForce MX460 video card + nouveau driver. X11 starts normally if screen is attached and crashes (seg fault) is screen not attached. X11 won't start with no screen for VNC remote access. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Disconnect screen 2. start computer 3. check logs. Actual Results: No VNC access to computer. Expected Results: SNAFU. Fresh OS 11.3 install. All updates applied. PAE kernel. Could you update kernel and X.Org <snip> and try again?
Please can you also advise if there are any backups / config saves I should do beforehand so I can return the machine to it's current setup afterwards? In general, I don't like running the latest software versions as it is too likely to need attention / behave unexpectedly. Can I undo any of the changes to the selected repositories and installed packages?
Not that easy.
