Install fcitx via repo M17N 4. waiting for updates Results: There are some updates in repo M17N the next day, and I got 2 update notification in the system tray, see screenshot. Analysis: 42.2 has merged patch 'gnome-settings-daemon-bring-back-updates-plugin.patch' ------ rpm -qa gnome-settings-daemon --changelog | less * Fri Aug 26 2016 dimstar@opensuse.org - Call autoreconf on SLE12 and Leap 42.x: gnome-settings-daemon-bring-back-updates-plugin.patch is also applied on Leap, hence autoreconf needs to run there too. * Wed Aug 10 2016 sckang@suse.com - Add gnome-settings-daemon-bring-back-updates-plugin.patch: Revert upstream commits fc22a8100fa40533fddfb4338160a20188e46c6b and e3e961c52419df5f2544b24957e71cf3a4c5ef85 to bring back the updates plugin.(bsc#991024) ------ And this patch is SLE only since SLED12SP2 upgraded to Gnome3.20 and doesn't shipped Gnome Software. Jonathan created this pathch to bring back the dropped notification for SLE. openSUSE using Gnome Software to show the notification. Now we have two notifications one is from gnome-packagekit the other is from gnome software. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Most of that is true except the 'SLE only' part. It was consciously also enabled for Leap 42.2 * GNOME Software forces 'offline update method' - whereas for TW this turned out to work very well and reliable (as the updates are usually rather big), this does not make a lot of sense for a stable released product, where patches are trickling in in small pieces -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
