first of all, it makes no difference if I have:

      false

or

      true

image deployment is always enabled.
I have the following in my software section of the autoyast XML file:

  <software>
    <patterns config:type="list">
       <pattern>base</pattern>
       <pattern>enhanced_base</pattern>
       <pattern>sw_management</pattern>
       <pattern>games</pattern>
    </patterns>
  </software>
