I tested it in 10.3, 11.0 and SLED sp2. It shows the description in all the cases. I have got few issues like the pre-SLED because libsoup and evo were handling \n and \n\r in different ways. But that was a long time ago. Now this works fine in both the cases. If this still happens with you, after clearing groupwise calendar cache, can you get GROUPWISE_DEBUG traces of evolution-data-server so that we can see what is the response coming from the server for you ? Also, access to your machine (to compare the newline handling etc.) will also be helpful. Michael, I informed mathias about it through mail. Its not upstreamed yet.

Can you please open a bug upstream and attach the patch there? Else, the patch will never get upstreamed.
