[Bug 369061] New: explicite list of HPLIP devices for cups-autoconfig

I don't know how cups-autoconfig currently decides if a USB printer is a "HPLIP device" or not. I hope that an explicite list of USB IDs for HPLIP devices might help. For a device which is supported by HPLIP (printers and all-in-one devices) there is a PPD in /usr/share/cups/model/manufacturer-PPDs/hplip/ where printers should be set up with the "hp" backend and all-in-one devices must be set up with the "hp" backend. The current hplip package in STABLE/FACTORY contains two files with explicite USB IDs for those HP USB devices which are supported by HPLIP: In /usr/share/hplip/data/models/models.dat the "usb-vid" and "usb-pid" entries. During hplip package build the file /etc/hal/fdi/policy/10osvendor/70-hpmud.fdi is derived from models.dat Additionally there is /etc/udev/rules.d/55-hpmud.rules which contains regexp-like definitions of USB IDs for HPLIP devices. Currently I don't know if it is better to have a fixed built-in list of HPLIP devices in cups-autoconfig so that it would work even without installed hplip package or let cups-autoconfig read one of the above files at runtime so that it is in sync with the actually installed hplip version. Perhaps both: Try to read one of the above files at runtime and have a built-in list as fallback.
