https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=867504 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=867504#c0 Summary: software raid1 by name fails to boot/mount Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 13.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 13.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: yast2-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: a.vankaam@chello.nl QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Opera/9.80 (X11; Linux x86_64) Presto/2.12.388 Version/12.15 I put this under the installation as that is where it happend for me. got 2 500GB HDD, did a clean install of opensuse 13.1-64, at the partitioning section I created 3 identical partitions on the 2 drives: sda1 2gb sda2 20gb sda3 rest sdb1 2gb sdb2 20gb sdb3 rest then in the raid section I combined them into a raid1 and I DID fill in the optional name at the top of the screen: sda1 + sda1 as swap with name swap sda2 + sdb2 as / with name root sda3 + sdb3 as home with name home installation continues fine but after the 1st manual reboot (so not the one during installation) the system refuses to boot completely: [ *** ] A startjob is running for dev-md-home.device which after a while changes into fstab shows: /dev/md/swap swap swap defaults 0 0 /dev/md/root / ext4 acl,user_xattr 1 1 /dev/md/home /home ext4 acl,user_xattr 1 2 however if you change it to: /dev/md/swap swap swap defaults 0 0 /dev/md/root / ext4 acl,user_xattr 1 1 /dev/md/linux:home /home ext4 acl,user_xattr 1 2 it will boot. I tested with /dev/md/linux:swap and it was not able to mount swap I tested with /dev/md/linux:root and that worked also I you go through the whole setup again and DO NOT file in a name when making the raids it works fine and fstab will have entries to mount /dev/disk/by-id towards the 3 md's [ TIME ] Timed out waiting for device dev-md-home.device Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. during install make a raid with names 2. after install reboot and it hangs 3. Actual Results: system won't mount /home saying: [ *** ] A startjob is running for dev-md-home.device Expected Results: to mount /home -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
