Installation seems to run smoothly. The computer boots up to the login screen. When I log in as user, the screen flickers and goes back to the same login screen again. It does not change this behaviour when trying to log in several times. When logging in as root, I get an error message: "GNOME ... wurde im Ausweichmodus gestartet ... Grafik-Hardware nicht für die vollständige GNOME-3-Umgebung geeignet..." (GNOME started in auxiliary(?)mode due to the graphics hardware not sufficient for full GNOME-3) It took me two installations to try the root account (I cannot recall, if I tried root with Beta2), therefore I would say some of the users are not able to see what is wrong and are not able to use GNOME with openSUSE 12.2 Expected behaviour would be that the user-account also falls back to "Ausweichmodus" and not root only or if the auto-configuration chooses a suitable graphics set-up automatically. T41 has following HW: R100 (RV2004C57) x86/MMX/SSE2 TCL DRI2 Pentium M By the way: any hint how to change the GNOME-3 graphics mode for normal users is appreciated. Changing the setting in root account is not sufficient to be able log in as user! There was a .xinitrc file for the users that couldn't log in, some residue from a test-installation before. It tried to call "startkde", which is obviousely failing in a Gnome-only installation. After deleting, the users can log in like root could. To sum up: in a non-clean environment, switching from KDE to Gnome-only can lead to problems :-/ Only thing left is that I am still in auxiliary mode for Gnome. For that problem, I attached the Xorg log-files. This is the check used by gnome during startup. Not getting 0 here means not compatible system for gnome 3.
