https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=687553 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=687553#c0 Summary: Unable to manually control mobile broadband connection Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Final Platform: PC OS/Version: openSUSE 11.4 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jcarricksmith@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=424952) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=424952) Network manager menu as it appears on my PC with broadband stick inserted. User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:2.0.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0 I manually configured my Huawei K3565 HDSPA USB stick in NetworkManager mobile broadband connection. Once configured, and with the stick plugged in and settled, no entry in the menu from the network manager icon appeared. If I set the mobile broadband connection to 'Connect Automatically' and then removed the stick and re-inserted it then the connection was made. Then disconnection was only possible by un-plugging the stick. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Configure mobile broadband provider without automatic connection. 2. Plug in stick and wait for it to settle. 3. Click on network manager toolbar icon Actual Results: No entry in network manager toolbar icon menu appears. "Old Style" menu appears with less detail than expected. (see attached picture file) Expected Results: A new entry in the network manager toolbar icon menu which clicking with cause the stick to connect. The entry should then change to a disconnect function. It works OK on my Asus Eee PC901 as expected. (Installed on fresh partitions.) The install on this PC (Dell Inspiron 6400) inherited its /home partition from an opensuse 11.3 installation. System partion was re-formatted. Output from uname -a Linux jlin.site 2.6.37.1-1.2-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT 2011-02-21 10:34:10 +0100 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
