[Bug 535824] New: 11.2 inconsistent accessibility of applications and associated icons from KDE menus
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=535824 Summary: 11.2 inconsistent accessibility of applications and associated icons from KDE menus Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Milestone 6 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: john.m.pemberton@sbcglobal.net QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Created an attachment (id=316099) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=316099) M6 KDE favorites menu showing missing/"default" icons User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.1.2) Gecko/20090730 SUSE/3.5.2-2.4 Firefox/3.5.2 New install selected, from images, choosing KDE, but modified partition proposal to keep "/home" partition used with M5. The KDE menu items described below display as blank document with question mark icon, instead of proper icon. For standard User: Favorites==>Amarok Favorites==>Digikam System==>Monitor==>KSystemLog(System Logs Viewer) Utilities==>Desktop==>Desktop Effects For Root: System==>Monitor==>KSystemLog(System Logs Viewer) Utilities==>Desktop==>Desktop Effects The associated applications are accessible to root despite the lack of standard icon. For a standard user the listed items which are not on the "Favorites" menu are accessible, while the others listed are not. However, "Amarok" and "Digikam" are accessible to a normal user from the more specific category menus, Applications==>Multimedia and Applications==>Graphics==>Photography, respectively. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install M6 as "New" installation from images, choosing KDE, but retained "/home" from M5 ( I first noticed problem in M5 ). 2. Logged in as a standard User try menu selections listed for standard User. 3. Logged in as root try menu selections listed for root. Default themes were used, no alternate theme selected. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Those icons have already been fixed - and they have nothing to do with whether the app can be started or not. And your old favorite menu entries point to not longer existing KDE3 versions of the applications. You can safely remove them and add the KDE4 versions as favorites. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
