We were discussing the similar bug #457611 against OOo. 1. He said, that Orca worked for him with Firefox on openSUSE-11.0. He is not able to get it working on 11.1-RC1, though. 2. He suggests to check the versions of gail, atk, at-spi. The used orca-2.24 is very new and might depend on the latest gail, atk, at-spi versions. 3. He also suggest to check the Java access bridge. Aragoneses 2008-12-18 10:26:20 MST --- Definitely Bugzilla should be able to propagate changes from other bugzillas :) In this case it's important to note that on BMO[1] they have proposed a Firefox patch which depends on a patch[2] recently applied to atk-bridge (a module that lives inside at-spi codebase), which TBH seems a hack over a hack but works.. Unfortunately, there's no tag yet for at-spi that has this change (they mention about being included in upstream's Gnome 2.24.2). I guess this is not doable for an openSUSE 11.1 update, so we need to: 1) Add the patch of bug [1] as an update to at-spi. 2) Add the patch of bug [2] as an update to Firefox. 3) Create a patch for OpenOffice, propose it upstream and create an update for it in oS11.1. Install OpenSUSE 11.1 DVD - Select GNOME as the default desktop 2. sudo zypper in accerciser 3. Enable desktop accessibility 1. Computer -> Control Center 2. Click on Assistive Technologies 3. In Assistive Technologies Preferences, check Enable assistive technologies 4. Click Close and Log Out 4. Open Firefox 5. Open Accerciser 6. In Accerciser, expand firefox. You should only see two levels: one frame with the Name of the window title and one below named "" with a role of redundant object. If accessibility was working, you'd see a hierarchy of the objects replicating the HTML DOM. In fact, I started seeing some weird stuff after installing the patch (see attached screenshot).
