[Bug 205373] New: Huge Main Menu
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=205373 Summary: Huge Main Menu Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Alpha 4 Platform: i686 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: rmatov101@charter.net QAContact: qa@suse.de In bug #205371 was described misconfigured monitor, as result screen fonts were huge. After xorg.conf was corrected and KDE restarted font problem was solved, but Main Menu was still huge. File ~/.kde/share/config/kickerrc had this: KMenuHeight=1950 KMenuWidth=3160 this is probably leftover from monitor misconfiguration, but it was not automatically corrected like fonts, after KDE restart. Manually settign values to KMenuHeight=600 KMenuWidth=400 solved the problem. Later I found that width was changed to 411. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=205373 ------- Comment #1 from benji.weber@gmail.com 2006-09-13 00:03 MST ------- This happened for me too, removing kickerrc after fixing the xorg monitor size fixes the problem as well. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=205373 ------- Comment #2 from coolo@novell.com 2006-09-13 02:10 MST ------- I guess, the menu should restrict itself to like 90% of the screen space. Then this wouldn't be a big problem - misconfigured xorgs shouldn't be a regular thing -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=205373 ------- Comment #4 from rmatov101@charter.net 2006-09-13 19:16 MST ------- (In reply to comment #2) Bad xorg.conf is not regular thing, but it revealed that some stuff is not checked during bootup and there is no visible option to tell KDE to rescan everything like during first boot. The 90% of the screen will hide errors like this, and still give bad looking, mostly empty, oversized Menu. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=205373 ------- Comment #5 from rmatov101@charter.net 2006-09-26 18:02 MST ------- Is there any idea how to handle this. Bug that made this appear is fixed. Now KDE configuration should be fixed not to accept screen sizes below some value. In this case it was configured with screen size 28x21 mm. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
